Freelance Generative AI Engineer (12-Month Contract) – Fintech

They are seeking an experienced
Generative AI Engineer
on a
12-month freelance contract
to help them design, build, and deploy GenAI-powered solutions. This role is
hybrid
, requiring
2-3 days per week onsite
with the flexibility to work remotely on other days.

Role Overview

As a Generative AI Engineer, you will leverage your expertise in LLMs and advanced AI systems to deliver real-world applications in fintech. You will collaborate with product, engineering, and compliance teams to design AI solutions that are secure, scalable, and regulation-ready.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, fine-tune, and deploy large language models for fintech use cases such as personalised financial insights, fraud detection, and document automation.
• Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and vector-based search for financial and regulatory data.
• Develop APIs and services that integrate AI solutions seamlessly into fintech applications.
• Ensure all AI systems align with compliance, security, and ethical AI requirements.
• Optimise model performance for real-time financial applications.
• Stay current with emerging GenAI trends and apply them to high-value financial use cases.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience
  in machine learning, AI engineering, or data science.
• Strong programming skills in Python with expertise in frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Hands-on experience with large language models (e.g., GPT, LLaMA, Falcon, or similar).
• Proven experience in fine-tuning, prompt engineering, or adapting LLMs for business applications.
• Knowledge of APIs, microservices, and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Solid understanding of data security, compliance, and privacy best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in fintech, banking, or regulated industries.
• Experience with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, FAISS, Weaviate).
• Familiarity with LangChain or other frameworks.
