Senior Functional Data Analyst

Senior Functional Data Analyst, where you will manage data needs for our clients across various industries. This role acts as a liaison between business users and technical teams, ensuring mutual understanding. The snr functional data analyst plays a critical role in ensuring that the right data projects are deployed and that data products are reliable, discoverable, and business-driven.

The ideal candidate is value-oriented, has strong analytical capabilities, and thrives in cross-functional environments. As you grow in this role, you will have the opportunity to evolve into a Data Product Owner, taking ownership of data product vision, strategy, and management stakeholder alignment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand business needs and challenges, and identify how data can drive impactful solutions. Translate business problems into data-driven questions to gather and analyse data product requirements
  • Identify the optimal data product solution that balances benefit and cost, ensuring it meets business needs effectively
  • Collaborate closely with data experts (e.g., engineers, scientists, and insights analysts) to ensure data products are implemented, meet usability and scalability criteria, and deliver tangible business value
  • Ensure the required source data is captured and meets quality standards by effectively managing data contracts with application owners and process experts
  • Manage the backlog for a specific data domain, prioritizing tasks based on value and alignment with business goals
  • Promote data democratization by enhancing data accessibility and usability through comprehensive documentation, internal marketing and training of the data product catalog
  • Oversee the lifecycle and lineage of data products, ensuring they remain accurate, relevant, and aligned with business objectives


Skills & Qualifications

  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in a similar role (e.g. data analyst, data product owner, …);
  • Experienced in data analysis & interpretation (e.g. SQL/Python, familiar with BI tooling, …);
  • Strong problem-solving skills and value-driven mindset to optimize cost-benefit balance of proposed data solutions;
  • Effective stakeholder management: communicate seamlessly with both technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Quick learner and pragmatic solution thinker: quickly grasp the business context, processes, and challenges, and effectively translate them into the right data product requirements;
  • First experience in data management: data catalog mgt, data modelling, data quality assessments, source to target analysis, data contracts, etc.;
  • Ability to understand the end-to-end (data) flow from source data to target data product, with the capacity to zoom in on granular details and zoom out to see the bigger picture;
  • Experience working Agile methodologies (e.g., scrum, kanban), Agile tooling (e.g. JIRA, Azure DevOps) and documentation tooling (e.g. Confluence);
  • Experience with data cataloging tooling (e.g. Collibra, Datahub) is a plus;
  • Fluent in English, and preferably also Dutch.
