We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Lead Project Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of renewable energy assets. You will ensure maximum system up-time, optimise performance, and uphold safety and compliance standards. This position requires a hands-on approach, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in the field.

  • Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance on renewable energy systems (solar, charging, and/or battery storage facilities) where you coordinate the different O&M subcontractors.
  • Supervise and support commissioning and testing of new installations (solar, charging, battery storage facilities) and upgrades.
  • Conduct inspections, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical components and communication equipment to ensure optimal system performance
  • Respond promptly to service calls, diagnose faults, and implement solutions to minimise downtime.
  • Perform emergency repairs.
  • Enforce compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of service activities, including reports on maintenance, repairs, and system performance.
  • Work collaboratively with remote monitoring teams, engineers, and site managers to optimise system operations.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and tools to ensure service readiness.
  • Provide technical support and training to site personnel as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in commissioning and maintenance of Battery Energy Storage Systems is a strong plus.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, inverters, transformers, control and communication systems.
  • Experience with SCADA systems, monitoring platforms, and data analysis and/or data communication protocols for system optimisation.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical components.
  • PLC programming knowledge is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in remote field locations.
  • Very good working knowledge of French, Dutch and English.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed, primarily in Belgium.
  • Valid driver's license required.
