Payroll Specialist – Belgium (French & English)

About the Role:

The company is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our People Operations team in Belgium. In this role, you will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for employees while enhancing the overall worker experience. You will work closely with Finance, HR Operations, and Service Management to maintain compliance, streamline payroll processes, and contribute to organizational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process accurate and timely payroll for approximately 500 employees in Belgium (both blue- and white-collar), including all payments, deductions, and statutory obligations (taxes, social security, etc.).
• Reconcile payroll data and review provider outputs to ensure correct processing of starters, leavers, absences, and variable inputs.
• Manage payroll-related queries through the People Portal, providing timely and value-aligned responses.
• Collaborate with Finance and other stakeholders to generate accurate payroll reports and General Ledger outputs.
• Maintain compliance with Belgian payroll legislation and contribute to continuous improvement of payroll systems and processes.
• Assist with benefits administration, provider communications, and maintaining internal payroll and benefits documentation.

Qualifications / Skills Required:

• Proven payroll experience in a fast-paced environment with deep knowledge of Belgian payroll legislation.
• Strong technical skills, including advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and high PC literacy.
• Demonstrated ability to accurately process, balance, and reconcile payrolls with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent analytical, numeracy, and decision-making skills, with effective time management and organizational capabilities.
• Experience working with payroll providers, managing compliance, and delivering high-quality service to internal stakeholders.
• Fluent in French and English.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with payroll system implementations or process improvement initiatives.
• Knowledge of multi-country payroll operations is a plus.
