Technical Support Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Onsite IT Network & Security Engineer to support a high-profile legislative body in Brussels. This role requires hands-on expertise in network and security infrastructure, including firewalls, LAN switching, and log management. The successful candidate will be embedded onsite, providing day-to-day technical support and long-term stability for the customer environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and manage firewalls to ensure secure network operations.
• Configure and maintain LAN switches for optimal connectivity and performance.
• Deploy and manage Aruba and Cisco networking equipment.
• Implement and maintain Graylog or similar centralised logging/monitoring solutions.
• Provide proactive support and troubleshooting for network and security infrastructure.
• Collaborate with client stakeholders to ensure systems meet operational and compliance requirements.
• Produce technical documentation, configurations, and operational guides as needed.
• Ensure best practices in IT security and adherence to organisational policies.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven hands-on experience with firewall setup and configuration.
• Strong knowledge of LAN switching technologies.
• Working experience with Aruba and Cisco networking solutions.
• Experience with Graylog or equivalent log management platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex environments.
• Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written).
• Ability to work independently onsite while liaising effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Skills

• Previous experience working within government or legislative environments.
• Knowledge of ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
• Additional European language skills (French or Dutch) would be an advantage.

Job Type: Permanent contract

Pay: €2.200,00 - €2.500,00 per month
