Senior Project Manager (PMS) – Advanced English – On-site in Brussels
We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager (PMS) to support large, complex and strategic IT projects for a public body of the European Union.
Location: Brussels, Belgium (On-site)
Contract Type: Freelance
Duration: 3 months, with possibility of extension
Language: Advanced English (mandatory)
Role Overview
The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the management of large and complex information systems projects, ensuring alignment with business needs, quality standards, and agreed delivery timelines throughout the full software development lifecycle.
Main Responsibilities
Manage large, complex and strategic projects related to the implementation of new information systems.
Manage the software development lifecycle, ensuring business needs are identified and change control procedures are respected.
Estimate costs, timelines, and resource requirements for complex projects.
Define project strategies, planning, tasks, deliverables, quality control, risk analysis, and reporting.
Prepare, maintain, and monitor project and quality plans, providing regular and accurate status reports.
Lead and motivate project teams, ensuring continuous development of skills and experience.
Guide project teams and review deliverables.
Participate in functional working groups and progress meetings.
Knowledge & Competences
Extensive experience in Project Management (7–10 years).
Advanced technical understanding of project-related aspects.
Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Lean Software Development, XP, Disciplined Agile).
Strong reporting and project tracking skills.
Experience with project management tools such as MS Project, Jira, GitHub Enterprise, and ServiceNow.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong leadership and presentation capabilities.
Knowledge of UML and BPMN.
Previous experience with European Institutions or Agencies is an asset.
Knowledge of software architecture and development is a plus.
