Plant Manager


SOL is an Italian-based multinational company, listed on the Milan Stock Exchange since 1998, with a turnover of EUR 1.610 billion and more than 7,200 employees, operating in the production and distribution of industrial and medical gases (oxygen, nitrogen, argon, helium, hydrogen), and in home medical care, in Italy and 24 other European countries, as well as a local presence in South America and Asia.



About the Company

Feluy Air Separation Unit (ASU) has 15 direct employees (blue collars and white collars). It is a state of the art plant for the production of: oxygen, argon, nitrogen. A second full automatic unit for production of liquid CO2 is also included in the Feluy cluster, located in Wanze at Biowanze premises (with 2 blue collars).



About the Role


Directly reporting to the SOL Corporate Primary Productions and Energy Director, the Plant Manager will be responsible for managing the SOL Feluy ASU and Wanze plants for the primary productions of technical gases.

This role has a strong management component, requiring excellent "sales" skills and the ability to effectively communicate with authorities, peers, and other stakeholders in neighboring companies to promote SOL's services and products.


As a matter of indication, he/she (after a training period across different production plants/HQ departments) will be in charge of:



Responsibilities


  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate unit staff, fostering a constructive and inspiring work environment, providing continuous feedback, and supporting the ongoing growth of both the team and the company.
  • Production Management: Efficiently manage the production plant in close coordination with the Central Production & Logistics Department. This includes overseeing the allocated budget, ensuring the required quality and quantity of products are delivered, and driving all necessary plant loading, storage, and maintenance plans.
  • Compliance and Quality: Implement company policies and achieve targets for Quality, Safety, Environment, and GMP/Medicinal standards (adhering to Belgian regulatory requirements), thereby preserving the plant's pharmaceutical status.
  • Financial Oversight: Prepare P&L projections, create and monitor the annual budget and quarterly reports, support local management on key financial matters, and participate in procurement activities.
  • External Representation: Represent the plant and its team to customers and local authorities, ensuring the facility maintains a strong reputation within the community, with a focus on safety, environmental responsibility, and local business relations.



Qualifications


  • Education: Master's degree / 5-year university education (preferably in Chemical or Management Engineering).
  • Experience: A minimum of 5+ years of industry experience (including international experience) in Production, Engineering, Technical Management, or similar roles.
  • Location: Domiciled near Feluy or willing to relocate to that area.
