We are looking for a driven Business Analyst with a passion for aviation and complex IT systems.

As a Business Analyst - Aviation Industry, you'll combine strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of the aviation sector and excellent communication abilities. You'll facilitate effective collaboration between technical teams and business stakeholders. In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and documenting requirements, as well as translating business needs into concrete IT solutions. You will also lead a key workstream within the project.

You will be part of an implementation team responsible for setting up a global maintenance information system. This team covers project management, process alignment, data migration, interfaces, mobile applications, and training across various airlines. Your focus will be on one of these workstreams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to elicit, analyze, document, and validate business requirements for new aviation IT systems.
• Conduct thorough research and analysis of existing processes and applications to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
• Develop comprehensive documentation of conceptual business requirements & detailed functional requirements, and other relevant documentation to clearly articulate business needs.
• Work closely with technical teams to ensure alignment between business requirements and IT solutions, providing clarification and guidance as needed.
• Contribute to and review the design of application user interfaces to ensure usability and effectiveness.
• Lead a workstream (data migration, processes, or interfaces) and collaborate with project managers to ensure successful implementation of IT projects within scope, timeline, and budget constraints.
• Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices in aviation IT to proactively identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Engineering, or Aviation.
• 2 or more years of experience in Aviation, Airline Maintenance and Engineering, with demonstrable experience working with a well-known maintenance information system within the industry.
• 3 or more years of experience as a Business Analyst.
• Be able to communicate perfectly in English, both orally and in writing.
• Strong working knowledge of relevant Microsoft applications, including Visio.
• In-depth knowledge of aviation industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into clear and actionable deliverables.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Expert knowledge and proven experience with ALL the following model-driven structured analysis techniques (e.g., SA/SD, Information Engineering or equivalent) is also a must: Business process modeling
• Logical data modeling: entity-relationship or object/class modeling
• Business rule specification
• Business service specification
• Use case analysis.
• Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies, as well as experience working in cross-functional teams.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills (a plus, but not required)

• Certifications such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP).
• Extensive experience with data visualization.
• Profound understanding of Domain Driven Design concepts (more specifically: strategic design).
• Proficiency with SQL scripting and database management.
• Experience with maintenance information system implementation projects (ideally: migration from one system to a prominent aviation maintenance system).
• Experience in aviation logistics.
• Experience with project management tools (e.g., Jira) and test management tools (e.g., QTest).
• Proficiency in French, Dutch, or German.
