Engineer, R&D Software Engineering

Role Overview Qity is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer with strong experience in the Atlassian ecosystem to support the design, development, and maintenance of software solutions used in regulated medical and compliance-driven environments. The role focuses primarily on the development of applications for Jira and Confluence, with Atlassian Forge as a core delivery platform. The successful candidate will contribute as a senior technical authority within the engineering team, working in close coordination with software architects and software testers to ensure solutions are robust, verifiable, and aligned with regulatory and quality requirements. This is a hybrid position, requiring regular on-site presence at one of Qity’s Belgian offices. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain software applications built on the Atlassian platform, with Jira and Confluence as primary targets Develop and evolve applications using Atlassian Forge, in accordance with platform constraints and security models Work in structured alignment with software architects and test engineers throughout the development lifecycle Translate system architecture, quality requirements, and verification strategies into maintainable software implementations Contribute across all lifecycle phases, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance Ensure software development activities comply with applicable regulatory frameworks, standards, and internal quality procedures Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Product Management stakeholders Perform code reviews and provide technical guidance to other members of the engineering team Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tooling, and deployment practices Maintain accurate and complete technical documentation suitable for audit and inspection contexts Monitor developments within the Atlassian ecosystem and assess their relevance to Qity’s platforms Required Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline Demonstrated professional experience developing applications within the Atlassian ecosystem Proven hands-on experience with Atlassian Forge Solid understanding of backend and frontend development concepts within platform-based environments Experience working in structured development settings alongside architects and test engineers Familiarity with modern software architecture principles and development methodologies Experience in regulated domains such as medical devices, healthcare, or life sciences is a strong advantage Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Dutch is an asset Ability to work autonomously, manage complex topics, and prioritise effectively Prior experience mentoring developers or acting in a senior technical role is desirable Employment Conditions Permanent employment position (no freelance arrangements) Hybrid working model with regular on-site collaboration Office locations: Erpe-Mere, Liège, or Charleroi Competitive remuneration package aligned with seniority and experience Opportunity to work on software supporting regulated medical and compliance-critical environments Qity offers a professional environment where senior engineers are expected to contribute technical expertise, sound judgement, and structured collaboration.
