Bioprocess Technician

Our customer, S-Biomedic, is a biotech leader in the skin microbiome space and a company of Beiersdorf AG. To support the team dedicated to the research and development of novel biologic ingredients in the skincare industry in their lab at the VIB Bioincubator, Ghent, we are looking for a:

Bioprocess Technician

We are seeking a Bioprocess Technician to join S-Biomedic’s R&D team. You will contribute to the R&D and Manufacturing activities with a focus on performing quality controls, develop and validating analytical methods, and troubleshoot manufacturing challenges by downscaling the Upstream and Downstream process. You will report directly to the Head of R&D and work closely with S-Biomedic’s technicians and scientists’ team.

We highlight the following tasks:

· Support the manufacturing team in routine QCs, troubleshooting production by downscaling process at bench scale.

· Development and implementation of new protocols (SOPs) and lab reports.

· Maintenance of lab equipment and the associated documentation.

· Training of colleagues in technical areas of expertise.

· Ambassador in maintaining safety, order, and hygiene in the lab environment and striving for an inclusive and respectful working environment.

We are searching for someone with:

· Bachelor, Master or applied sciences degree in Biotechnology, Bioscience Engineering, Biochemistry or equivalent.

· Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in a similar role, with knowledge of general microbiology techniques (eg. application QC, standardized methods, cell counts analysis, viability assays, stability studies, etc.), molecular biology (eg. DNA purification, amplification and sequencing) and analytical techniques (HPLC).

· Hands-on experience in drying techniques – freeze drying and spray drying – and power handling is a plus.

· Preferably with knowledge of lab-scale fermentation, and/or downstream processing (filtration, centrifugation, chromatography, etc.).

· Fluency in English.
