About PGEU

The Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union (PGEU) is the European association representing community pharmacists. PGEU has 33 national delegations made up of 40 member associations. Through its Member Associations, PGEU represents more than 400.000 community pharmacists and 160.000 pharmacies across Europe.

PGEU’s primary role is to promote the role of community pharmacists in the policy and regulatory framework at EU level, and to serve as a forum for the exchange of information and best practices among its members. Further information can be obtained on the PGEU website: 

The Legal adviser reports to the Secretary General and provides PGEU members with information and advice on legal issues that have an impact on the pharmacy sector.


Your responsibilities:

  • Monitor EU legislative and non-legislative initiatives that have an impact on the pharmacy sector including pharmaceuticals, public health, cross-border health care, internal market, education and continuing professional development, data protection, digital issues, etc;
  • Draft PGEU position papers, responses to public consultations and technical briefings;
  • Prepare legal analysis, annual reports, work programmes, activity reports, and minutes of internal meetings;
  • Support the representation of PGEU in relevant external meetings and conferences;
  • Monitor and assess relevant case law of the Court of Justice of the EU and its implications for community pharmacists;
  • Provide ad-hoc support and research to PGEU members on legal queries;
  • Draft amendments to European Parliament draft reports on legislative and non-legislative proposals affecting the pharmacy sector and providing legal grounds supporting them;
  • Maintain and develop contacts with EU officials, Member of the European Parliament, member state national representations and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Collect, analyse and validate national legal pharmacy practice data from PGEU member associations.


The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Advanced university degree in Law. A master’s degree in European, competition law or similar would be an advantage;
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience;
  • Strong interest in the health care sector;
  • Expertise on digital issues would be an advantage;
  • Sound knowledge of the EU institutions and procedures;
  • Excellent communication, networking and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent written and spoken English;
  • Ability to take initiatives and adapt in a small and highly motivated team.
