Job Title: Plant Support Technician – (Refractory & Maintenance)
Location: Gent, Belgium
Contract: 12-month Fixed Term Contract
Salary: €40,000
Hrs: 38hrs per week
Position Summary:
The Plant Support Technician – Refractory & Maintenance plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of a heavy industrial or steel plant facility. This position assists in maintaining refractory systems, mechanical components, and contributes to plant safety, efficiency, and productivity. The role involves hands-on technical work, coordination with supervisors, and a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
As the Plant Support Technician, your key responsibilities would be:
- Operate and Maintain machinery, adhering to the sites strict health & safety standards.
- Assist with maintenance tasks, including preventive and corrective actions and support the inspection, repair, and installation of refractory equipment.
- Operating plant equipment to ensure production schedules are met.
- Provide support during shutdowns, turnarounds, and emergency maintenance.
- Work closely with the plant management team to implement safety and operational improvements.
- Conduct regular safety checks and comply with all HSE protocols and reporting requirements.
- Assist in the coordination of on-site contractors as required.
- Assist in monitor SMS operations including cost saving opportunities, maintenance issues, quality issues, monitor of raw materials and inventory costs.
- Ensure customers are continuously informed on their order progress/customer operational activities.
As the Plant Support Technician, you will have the following skills:
- Plant Operations and Production knowledge and experience - Experience of working in heavy industry (Quarrying, Aggregates, Asphalt, Steel)
- Ideally, have Refractory experience
- Exposure to some Mechanical/Industrial Maintenance experience/knowledge
- Strong knowledge of plant safety practices and procedures
- Good IT skills
- Customer service as will be face to face with the Client on site daily.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environment.
- Willingness to travel to other sites and respond to callouts/overtime as needed – driving licence required.
