About New ERA

New ERA represents organisations offering reusable and refillable solutions and support across the entire reuse value chain, covering various market segments such as takeaway, e-commerce, retail, and transport packaging, and serving both B2B and B2C contexts. Its mission is to advocate for sound EU policies that will provide the economic conditions to unlock the full potential of well-designed reuse and refill systems.


Representing over 80 businesses and 8 sectoral and national reuse associations, we focus on three core objectives:


  • Influence policy: advocate for policies that support competitive reuse and refill packaging systems.
  • Strengthen the industry: contribute to the development of the reuse ecosystem with actionable insights, market intelligence, and clear guidelines.
  • Foster collaboration: Build a platform for stakeholders to exchange knowledge and promote cross-border networking.

Job description

We are looking for a person to support our team for an initial six-month internship. The position is based in Brussels and will consist of a work schedule of 38 hours/week.


Main tasks:

  • Research: review and prepare summary notes on reports and publications about reuse systems, identifying relevant qualitative and quantitative information;
  • Data collection: compile and consolidate existing data on reuse systems to support our advocacy and external communication actions;
  • Stakeholder engagement: assist in building and maintaining relationships with key EU institutions, Member States, NGOs, industry stakeholders, and other relevant actors.
  • Meeting support: assist with pre-meeting preparation, including drafting briefs, gathering background information, and profiling stakeholders to ensure productive discussions.
  • Internal communication: assist in monitoring and managing the tools used for communication with our members, with particular focus on monitoring market and business news around reuse systems;
  • Event participation & organisation: Take part in organising and attending relevant events when needed, helping to raise New ERA's visibility and influence.
  • Administration: Provide general administrative support to ensure internal process and communications function seamlessly.


Profile

  • Educational background: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in political science, EU affairs, economy, law, environmental studies, or a related field.
  • Interest in environmental issues: A genuine passion for environmental sustainability, circular economy principles.
  • Strong research & analytical skills: Ability to track, analyse, and synthesise with a high degree of accuracy different publications such as reports and articles.
  • Excellent communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages such as German are a plus.
  • Organisational skills: Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player: Collaborative and proactive, with the ability to engage effectively with team members and external stakeholders.


Job specifications

  • Full-time, based in Brussels
  • Hybrid flexible format: the possibility of remote work is available 
  • Contract type: Internship under the CIP contract (6 months)
  • Remuneration: 1,250 €/month
  • Start Date: February 2026
