Cost Engineer

Are you ready to play a key role in one of the most ambitious industrial projects in Belgium?

As Cost Controller, you’ll be the financial backbone of a major CAPEX program, ensuring cost control and transparency throughout the entire project lifecycle — from execution to start-up.

Your Role

• Control and monitor project cost baselines throughout the entire lifecycle, from execution to start-up.
• Drive rapid and transparent communication on project costs, forecasts, and cash flow needs.
• Develop and implement procedures and work processes to control costs, including monitoring changes and their financial impact.
• Liaise with financing institutions, EPCm contractors, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with financial requirements.
• Prepare monthly and interim cost reports for the Project Delivery Team.
• Coordinate and monitor construction cost reporting across multiple sub-projects within Project One.
• Assist schedulers and project controls managers with ad hoc project control duties.
• Collect data on spending and commitments, post against estimates, and produce accurate forecasts.
• Track and report forecast deviations in a timely manner.
• Play a key role in the technical management of contractors and subcontractors regarding cost tracking.
• Perform and apply cost risk analysis in forecasting activities.
• Ensure all change requests include cost impact assessments starting from the Execute phase.
• Support external audits carried out by banker’s engineers representing financing institutions.

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• 5–10 years of experience in a process industry or engineering environment with large CAPEX projects (> $100MM).
• Mega-project experience
• Site experience is strongly preferred.
• Solid knowledge of Project Controls practices.
• Good understanding of chemical engineering, plant operations, and project engineering or quantity surveying.
• Strong financial skills: cost classification, accounting, forecasting, performance measurement, change management, asset tracking.
• Proficient with EcoSys and SAP PS for cost management.
