Legal Manager


ABOUT OUR CLIENT


Our client is a fast-growing organisation operating in a data and technology driven environment, combining a strong sense of purpose with an entrepreneurial, start-up-style mindset.


The company is building new products, partnerships and operating models in a highly regulated context, which requires Legal to be closely embedded in the business rather than positioned as a purely reactive support function. Decision-making is agile, responsibilities are broad, and teams are encouraged to take ownership and move quickly while managing risk intelligently.


As the organisation continues to scale, Legal is evolving into a strategic enablement function, supporting growth through clear frameworks, pragmatic advice and robust governance.


KEY RESPONSBAILITIES


The role sits at the crossroads of strategy, governance and day-to-day legal operations. You will be part of the management team, acting as a trusted legal sparring partner while ensuring that legal frameworks support the organisation’s development.


In practice, the role includes:


  • Strategic legal advice & management support
  • Ownership of Legal & Compliance governance
  • Contract management & negotiations
  • Public-sector & regulatory context (nice to have / strong asset)
  • External counsel & disputes
  • Legal enablement & operations


YOUR PROFILE


  • Master’s degree in Law.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a lawyer or in-house legal counsel, with a strong contract practice and stakeholder management exposure.
  • Ability to combine legal rigour with pragmatism and translate complexity into actionable decisions.
  • Comfortable taking ownership, prioritising autonomously and working in a multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Fluent in Dutch (French and/or English is a plus).
  • Affinity with or experience in data, IT, security or regulated digital environments.
  • Experience in or exposure to public-sector or governmental contexts.
  • Knowledge of public procurement legislation.
