Our client is a global player in material technology. A stable international group and at the same time a top Belgian company with four locations in our country. They develop technologies and produce materials for high-quality solar cells used in satellites, rechargeable batteries, LED applications, catalysts... Through recycling, they extract precious metals from, among other things, laptops and mobile phones.

In the Precious Metals Refining (PMR) department, we produce solutions based on base and precious metals. The key to our success is innovation. We are constantly looking for new methods and ideas to sustainably produce and recycle metals. Imagine what you could do in such a challenging department!

At our site in Hoboken, we are investing heavily to meet changing processes and legislation. Our Technology department, with its 90 enthusiastic employees, is the driving force behind these projects. We support the various production departments with technical advice and follow the entire cycle of these projects; from feasibility, through design and realisation to start-up.

Project description

As a Mechanical Engineer within the project team, you will be responsible for the mechanical and piping discipline.

Primary tasks and responsibilities

• Designing the installation, processing all input from stakeholders to develop a concept into detailed plans. Sometimes you will also manage external engineering firms.

• Conducting technical discussions with suppliers (preparing technical specifications, price inquiries, orders and tracking deliveries).

• Estimating costs and creating a schedule in consultation with the project manager and monitoring these during execution.

• Coordinating execution works and general site activities. Keeping and resolving a punch list until the project is fully completed.

• Assisting during the start-up of the installation.

• Ensuring that the scope, budget and timing are maintained.

Technical profile requirements

• You hold at least a Bachelor's degree with a specialisation in electromechanics or mechanical engineering.

• You have minimum 10 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, in a similar position.

• You have minimum 7 years of Autocad 3D experience. You can work with 2D or 3D drawing packages to design smaller installations yourself.

• You have minimum 7 years experience in an industrial environment.

• You have knowledge of machines from a maintenance or design perspective. You also have a basic understanding of pumps, piping and thermodynamics.

• You have experience writing tenders.

• You possess an active SCC / VCA certificate.

Non-Technical profile requirements

• You can work independently and prioritise tasks.

• You are assertive, communicative and result-oriented.

Language proficiencies

• You are fluent in Dutch (written & spoken)

• You have good knowledge of English (written & spoken)

Location

• Hoboken Site (Antwerpen). 100% onsite presence required.

• Exceptional homework is possible after a couple of months.

Start date & modalities

• Date: Start as soon as possible. Contract in the first stage will be till 31/12/2025. Long term collaboration is envisioned.
