Job Summary The Data Centre Operator is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and supporting the physical and environmental infrastructure of the data centre to ensure continuous and reliable operation of IT equipment and systems. This role involves overseeing data centre hardware, managing environmental controls, responding to alarms and incidents, and coordinating with technical teams to maintain optimal performance and uptime. Key Responsibilities Monitor data centre systems and equipment, including servers, storage devices, network hardware, power supplies, cooling systems, and security systems. Perform routine inspections and maintenance of data centre infrastructure to ensure operational efficiency. Respond promptly to alarms, alerts, and incidents, escalating issues as necessary to appropriate technical teams. Manage access control and security protocols to safeguard data centre assets. Maintain accurate logs and documentation of data centre activities, incidents, and maintenance. Coordinate with vendors and service providers for repairs, upgrades, and emergency support. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies within the data centre. Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning and drills. Support after-hours and on-call operations as required. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or diploma in IT, electronics, or related field preferred. Experience working in a data centre or IT operations environment. Basic understanding of IT hardware, networking, and data centre infrastructure. Strong problem-solving skills is preferable and ability to work under pressure. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Preferred Skills Familiarity with monitoring tools and data centre infrastructure management (DCIM) software. Basic knowledge of server operating systems and networking concepts.
