Associate General Counsel, Competition


Meta seeks a highly motivated and collaborative professional to serve as Associate General Counsel, Competition. Working as part of a team with a track record of success in a goal and impact-oriented environment, this position will manage investigations and inquiries related to competition and regulatory matters.
You will advise the business and help develop the company's legal position and strategy on competition and regulatory matters throughout the world. This is an unique opportunity for an experienced, skilled individual to join a growing legal team and work on cutting edge issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment with a broad and challenging remit.
Responsibilities
  • Represent the company in connection with competition inquiries by regulators across the world
  • Work with a cross-functional team to develop and implement long-term competition strategy
  • Help develop and execute our legal strategy in connection with review of mergers and acquisitions by competition regulators
  • Provide teams across the company with counsel and advice on competition and regulatory issues
  • Retain and manage outside counsel on merger reviews and other competition matters
  • Review and advise on pending and developing competition regulation and developments
Minimum Qualifications
  • Meta requires all employed attorneys to have a law degree or equivalent certificate to permit the practice of law and be appropriately licensed and authorized to practice law for the company in their assigned work location. Unless prohibited under local law, an attorney must hold a current practicing certificate (including where required from the relevant authority in the jurisdiction of the assigned work location) or the local law equivalent bar registration or license as may be applicable
  • 8+ years of relevant legal experience, including at a top law firm and/or prior in house experience, ideally with technology companies working on competition matters
  • Experience representing companies in large scale and complex competition / regulatory inquiries including conducting investigations and merger reviews
  • Experience developing innovative and pragmatic approaches to complex legal challenges with a proven track record in providing concise and business-focused legal advice
  • Experience working with technology companies
  • Flexibility and eagerness to work on broad range of legal matters across the world
  • Proven experience of successfully building trusting partnerships and communicating effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, with an absolute commitment to professionalism and collegiality
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with global competition laws and competition regulators, in particular in EMEA
  • English plus another European language
