AI Strategy & Consulting Intern

About Merlin Innovation

At Merlin, we've got a bit of a funny relationship with the word "AI." Not with AI itself, but with the hype that tends to come with it. Because we've all seen it: something looks amazing in a demo, everyone gets excited, and then it never gets used. And when that happens, there's no real innovation, it's just decoration.

Our core believe is the following: An AI that isn't used, is a useless AI. Everything we do starts from there. We help organisations move past the noise and into measurable impact, in a way that's hands-on, practical, and built for adoption. Typically that means workshops, rapid prototypes, and production-ready solutions. We stay involved end-to-end, from strategy through execution, whether a team is just starting with generative AI or trying to accelerate what they already have.

The role

We're looking for an AI Strategy & Consulting Intern to join us on-site in Brussels, on a part-time or full-time basis. You'll support the delivery of client-facing AI strategy projects, helping turn raw data into clear, actionable outcomes.

Concretely, this means:

  • Researching AI trends and practical business use cases
  • Contributing to the preparation and delivery of client workshops
  • Supporting the development of business cases and client-ready deliverables (reports, presentations, recommendations)
  • Collaborating closely with the team across multiple internal projects

Since Merlin Innovation is a start-up, this role goes beyond a narrow job description. Alongside core AI strategy and consulting work, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to areas such as marketing, sales support, proposal writing, strategic communications, and internal projects, especially where your own industry knowledge can add value. You'll work closely with a small, senior team and should be comfortable collaborating in a fully on-site environment.

Practical details

  • Start date: to be discussed
  • Minimum duration: 3 months
  • Location: fully on-site in Brussels

Your profile

  • Strong interest in AI, generative AI, and real-world business applications (no need to be a technical AI developer)
  • Solid research, analytical, and structured problem-solving skills
  • Ability to turn insights into clear written outputs (slides, reports, summaries, business cases)
  • Comfortable supporting workshops and contributing to interactive presentations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive, adaptable mindset and ease working in a start-up environment
  • Currently enrolled in a Master's program in Data & AI, business or engineering or a related field

Languages

  • Fluent in English + French or English + Dutch
  • English + French + Dutch is a strong plus
  • (Any other language is an extra plus)

How to apply
