Meissner Filtration Products is seeking a Field Applications Specialist to join the company�s Applications Engineering team. The position will report locally to the Applications Engineering Supervisor, Castlebar and directly to the Manager of Field Applications Engineering Specialists based in Georgia, US.

Meissner's Applications Engineering team is scaling globally to address rapidly expanding market opportunities. As part of a highly functioning team of engineers, you'll be charged with adapting Meissner's technology platforms to end-users' processes, implementing these as a critical part of medicine manufacture. This team supports clients throughout the world by overseeing the design of novel, efficient and cost-effective process solutions while also confirming a robust supply chain, establishing market value, ensuring a seamless transition to manufacturing, and providing assistance and technical support necessary to ensure the successful implementation thereof.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensures processes and products are compliant with cGMP and compatible with the regulatory environment required by our pharmaceutical client base.
  • Understands how the European Medicines Agency (EMA) regulatory body impacts the design and development of single-use systems specific to European clients, and relays that back to the team in Castlebar and the global Applications Engineering team.
  • Works directly with Business Development and other relevant teams to develop and maintain positive and collaborative technical relationships with clients in EMEA and surrounding areas.
  • Helps to maintain and increase product usage and support relevant internal teams by leading on-site and virtual technical discussions, presentations and demonstrations.
  • Collaborate on pricing strategy, pricing models, and value engineering.
  • Collaborate on client strategy to support their user requirements.
  • Provides frontline training and troubleshooting of issues related to implementing Meissner's technology platforms at client facilities.
  • Generate visit report-outs and share relevant customer findings with Sales, AE team, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure best practices are communicated throughout the organization.
  • Represent Meissner at local and international tradeshows. events, and conferences. Participate in QBRs, customer meetings, and planning discussions with Key Account Managers (KAMs).
  • Start developing towards being a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one target application.
  • Assist with Applications Engineering core functions including supporting client inquiries:
  • Develop single-use systems designs based on user and process requirements.
  • Manage Applications Engineering Projects in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to streamline and track interdepartmental customer-related communication.
  • Manage library of single-use componentry for use in single-use assemblies.
  • Provide product support for single-use systems and filters.
  • Engages in internal training and may begin supporting onboarding efforts of new hires.

Time & Travel Management Requirements

  • Adhere to all corporate travel and expense policies and guidelines.
  • Travel as required, approximately 25-40% of the time, including occasional weekends, using the most time-efficient travel methods aligned with business needs.
  • Demonstrate efficient time management skills with the ability to remain focused on primary business objectives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Submit accurate and timely expense reports in accordance with company policies.

Qualifications, Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology or equivalent technical discipline from four-year college or university.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience as a technical specialist in single-use systems and technologies geared toward the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proven ability to work independently, with strong self-motivation and time management skills.
  • Travel to client facilities and Meissner entities globally may account for up to 40% of the time.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Experience in responding to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Demonstrate computer skills, including familiarity with CAD and proficiency in word-processing, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Proven track record in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Excellent attention to detail is necessary as single-use assemblies are used in the production and use of life saving drugs.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with other departments at Meissner as well as parties external to the organization.
  • Demonstrate professionalism by taking ownership of work, navigating difficult conversations with clarity and respect, and providing thoughtful input even when under pressure. Recognizes the impact of their communication and actions on others and adjusts accordingly.
  • Able to lead client discussions and present Meissner technical capabilities.

Occasional work may be done in an ISO Class 7 cleanroom environment. Powder free gloves, face masks, hairnets, gowns, and shoe covers must be worn. Because smokers continue to shed thousands of smoke particles even hours after smoking a cigarette and these particles will damage our products, only non-smokers are permitted to enter or work in the cleanroom. As a result, the successful candidate must be a nonsmoker.
