About This Role
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Communications to join our Leadership team and drive MedTech Europe into a new era of strategic communication excellence. This senior role offers the opportunity to shape our communications strategy from the ground up while leading a talented team in an environment that values innovation, collaboration, and results.
As a key member of our Leadership team, you'll have the autonomy to implement fresh approaches and drive transformational change across our communications landscape, together with a small team of 4 people. We're looking for someone who thrives on challenge, embraces new directions, and can elevate our communications function to new heights.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies aligned with our Strategic Plan (incl. the policy work)
- Lead crisis communication protocols and proactive reputation management initiatives
- Build and maintain strategic media relations across all channels
- Drive thought leadership positioning for executive team and organisation
- Work in close partnership with Director of Public Affairs, and other colleagues, to ensure integrated external messaging and stakeholder engagement
Content Management & Digital Excellence
- Oversee multi-channel content creation and digital platform strategy
- Coordinate cross-departmental content initiatives to ensure unified messaging
- Maintain consistent brand messaging while implementing robust measurement analytics and metrics
- Lead digital transformation of communication touchpoints
Internal Communications
- Manage executive communications and enhance leadership visibility across the organisation
- Support organisational change initiatives through strategic messaging and engagement campaigns
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and optimize information flow
- Drive employee engagement through innovative internal communication strategies
Events Leadership
- Lead comprehensive event strategy, logistics, and stakeholder coordination
- Plan and execute major MedTech Europe events (MedTech Forum, CEO Summit, HETHICO and other high-profile gatherings)
- Integrate strategic communications into all event planning for maximum impact
- Drive measurable event ROI through strategic communication integration and analytics
Profile:
Education
- Degree in communication or a closely related field
Leadership & Management
- Proven experience building and leading high-performing communications teams
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively at the senior leadership level
- Strong track record of driving strategic change and innovation
- Experience collaborating with C-suite executives and board members
Strategic Expertise
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive communications experience with 3+ years in senior leadership roles
- Expertise in integrated communications strategy development and execution
- Strong background in crisis communications and reputation management
- Proven success in multi-channel content strategy and digital communications
Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Data-driven approach to communications with strong analytics capabilities
- Experience in event management and execution at scale
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Preferably experience in life science sector
