Manager International Affairs


Your role in the Association:

MedTech Europe is the European trade association representing the medical technology industries.

Manager International Affairs will be responsible under strategic direction of Director International Affairs for taking a lead role in achieving the organisation’s goals in the international arena and contribute to ensuring representation of the membership where needed. International activities focus on trade negotiations and market access, global health policies, as well as regulatory matters and regulatory convergence questions relevant to the medical technology industry, at the global level.

Key responsibilities:


Key Projects

  • Managing working groups and creating a work programme based on members’ input for the various work streams
  • Implementing/coordinating projects and activities of industry internationally, including activities related to addressing barriers to trade, customs and trade, and global health policy
  • Develop responses to public consultations, position papers and presentations to support international activities included but not limited to developing global health policies, trade negotiations and market access questions
  • Provide direction and support the functioning of the international working groups.


Members Management

  • Lead working groups as appropriate to meet the objectives including coordination of the debate, building consensus and advise on possible successful political and legal strategies.
  • Manage members expectations and coordinate activities of members around the world on key projects.
  • Liaise and coordinate with other industry associations internationally.


Specific expertise

  • Understanding of medical technologies considered a major advantage.
  • Knowledge of EU commercial policy and trade negotiations process and the international frameworks concerning trade related topics (including barriers to trade, customs matters).
  • Economic data analysis skills considered an advantage.
  • WHO Policies and activities relative to medical technologies.
  • Understanding of EU regulatory framework for medical devices and IVDs considered an advantage.


Representation

  • Represents the association at a variety of external meetings involving stakeholders including international organisations, EU institutions and policy makers in countries around the world


Communication

  • Ability to communicate in an international environment
  • Effective communication with a multidisciplinary team


Requirements:

  • Master, preferable in Health Policy, International Studies, European Studies, European Law, Political Science, (Health) Economics
  • Minimum three to five years of professional experience in International Affairs
  • Proven solid knowledge of EU institutions
  • Proven knowledge of WHO Policies and activities relative to medical technologies
  • Availability to travel regularly
  • Previous experience in a trade association is a plus
  • Experience of working in medical technology industry is a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English, any additionally EU language is considered a plus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Team player with commitment to excellence
