As part of the organization’s commitment to strengthening its global trade compliance framework, the Senior International Trade Compliance Specialist will play a key role in supporting and executing trade compliance operations across the EMEA region. This position is central to ensuring adherence to international trade regulations, reducing regulatory and operational risk, and maintaining seamless cross-border movement of goods—particularly in a fast-changing geopolitical and regulatory environment.
This experienced specialist role reports to the International Trade Compliance EMEA Lead and works closely with cross-functional teams including Supply Chain, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial to embed compliance into core business processes and support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support compliance with EU and international trade laws, working closely with the EMEA ITC lead.
- Monitor regulatory changes (e.g., FTAs, Section 301, USMCA) and advise on business impacts and required actions.
- Assist in audit readiness, risk assessments, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain work instructions and contribute to the regionalization of global SOPs.
- Coordinate with brokers and logistics partners to ensure timely and compliant cross-border shipments.
- Manage import/export licenses, permits, and clearance procedures, including resolution of border issues.
- Oversee HS code/ECCN classifications, origin determinations, and valuation processes for EU trade activities.
- Maintain records to support preferential trade agreements and duty savings initiatives.
- Deliver trade compliance training and promote awareness across functional teams.
- Support ERP/trade system implementation and ensure compliance is embedded in operational workflows.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Law, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in global trade compliance, preferably in the life sciences, medical device, or manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of U.S. import/export regulations and tariff regimes.
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
- In-depth knowledge of HTS classification, ECCN determination, and country of origin rules.
- Experience managing broker relationships and customs processes.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and trade tools (GTS, Amber Road, Integration Point, Descartes).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and project management skills.
