Actuary – Risk & Modelling


As part of a dedicated actuarial team embedded within the Risk, Finance and Strategy functions, the Actuary – Risk & Modelling will play a pivotal role in designing and executing quantitative models that support regulatory compliance, portfolio performance, and forward-looking risk strategy.


The ideal candidate combines technical excellence, regulatory fluency, and the ability to translate actuarial analysis into actionable insights for senior leadership.


Key Responsibilities


  • Model Development & Maintenance

Design, calibrate and validate actuarial models for reserving, pricing, and capital projections across Life / Non-Life / Health / Pension portfolios.

  • Regulatory Compliance

Deliver accurate, timely reporting under Solvency II, IFRS 17, and BNB standards. Contribute to QRTs, ORSA, SCR calculations and internal model validation.

  • Business Partnering

Work closely with internal stakeholders (Finance, Risk, Product, Underwriting, Data Science) to ensure actuarial insight drives strategic decision-making.

  • Portfolio Analysis & Profitability Studies

Provide in-depth profitability reviews, scenario stress-testing and risk-adjusted performance measures for both mature and newly launched products.

  • Innovation & Transformation

Participate in key transformation programs such as model automation, integration of data analytics/AI, ESG modelling, and internal actuarial governance upgrades.


Profile Sought


  • Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Applied Finance
  • 3 to 8 years of professional experience in actuarial modelling or risk (insurance, reinsurance, banking, or consultancy)
  • Strong understanding of European regulatory frameworks:

→ Solvency II (Standard Formula and/or Internal Model)

→ IFRS 17 (especially CSM calculation, risk adjustment, PAA/GMM)

→ Belgian regulatory standards (BNB reporting)

  • Strong command of actuarial tools and programming languages:

→ Prophet, RiskAgility

→ R, Python, SAS, SQL or similar

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex actuarial findings to non-actuarial stakeholders (management, finance, risk)
  • Languages:

→ Fluent in French or Dutch

→ Strong written and spoken English required
