Business Intelligence Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Freelance BI (Business Intelligence) Developer to support our client in Brussels. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in data modeling, dashboard/report development, and business data analysis, and will work closely with business stakeholders to deliver actionable insights.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain BI solutions using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik.
• Build and optimize data models and ETL pipelines using SQL, DAX, Power Query, or relevant technologies.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop interactive dashboards and reports to visualize KPIs and trends.
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across reports.
• Conduct performance tuning of BI tools and SQL queries.
• Provide documentation, training, and support for BI solutions delivered.
• Participate in regular meetings with stakeholders in Brussels.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a BI Developer or Data Analyst (minimum 3–5 years).
• Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, QlikView/Qlik Sense, or similar.
• Strong SQL skills; experience with databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of data modeling, star/snowflake schema, and DAX/MDX (if applicable).
• Familiarity with ETL processes and tools (e.g., SSIS, Talend, Azure Data Factory).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• French or Dutch speaking would be mandatory to facilitate collaboration with local stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines as a freelancer.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Knowledge of Python or R for data analysis.
• Background in finance, healthcare, or the public sector is a plus.
