Role Overview The Electrical Commissioning Engineer is responsible for the coordination and execution of electrical commissioning activities on complex construction projects. The role ensures that electrical systems are installed, tested, and energized in accordance with design intent, project specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements. The position supports safe system handover and ensures operational readiness prior to project completion.
Key Responsibilities
Review electrical drawings, specifications, and commissioning documentation
Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and inspection & test plans (ITPs)
Coordinate and witness equipment testing including Factory and Site Acceptance Tests
Execute pre-commissioning and functional testing of electrical systems
Support energization planning and safe system startup
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and approved method statements
Record test results, manage punch lists, and prepare commissioning reports
Liaise with project management, construction teams, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives
Support final handover documentation and project close-out
Requirements
Degree, diploma, or trade qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Relevant experience in electrical commissioning or building services projects
Good understanding of electrical distribution systems and associated equipment
Familiarity with commissioning processes and quality assurance documentation
Knowledge of applicable electrical standards and safety regulations
Ability to interpret technical drawings and single line diagrams
Strong organisational and coordination skills
Effective communication skills and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams
Proactive approach to safety and problem-solving
