Position overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Intern to join our team. This role presents a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of food science, nutrition and regulatory affairs. Reporting directly to the Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Officer, the intern will provide essential support for ongoing initiatives that facilitate industry compliance, research and advocacy efforts.

Key responsibilities:

• Regulatory support and monitoring: Conduct regulatory monitoring with a focus on international regulatory bodies, specifically with respect to Codex Alimentarius (and other technical and regulatory topics relevant to the specialised foods industry), summarise key updates, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Technical writing: Support in drafting technical documents, guidance materials, and member communications related to food safety, nutrition, and regulatory affairs.
• Data management: Support data collection and analysis for regulatory submissions, scientific projects and industry surveys.
• Stakeholder engagement: Collaborate with internal teams, external consultants and member organisations to support projects and initiatives.
• Administrative Tasks: Assist with organising materials for internal and external sector specific meetings, and providing other operational support as needed.

Qualifications:

• Education: Recent graduate or nearing the completion of a degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition or a related discipline
• Knowledge: Foundational understanding of scientific principles of food safety, nutrition and food technology; familiarity with regulatory concepts is a plus.
• Research skills: Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesise complex information.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with an emphasis on technical writing.

The internship is compensated.

ISDI’s secretariat is located in Brussels. ISDI cannot support your residence permit application for this opportunity. However remote working is also possible.
