IPrA seeks applicants for Executive Secretary position
The International Pragmatics Association (IPrA) a non-profit organization (vzw) is now accepting applications (through 15 November 2025) for a full-time association management position as Executive Secretary. The position's responsibilities are outlined below, along with details for submitting an application. The anticipated start date is early January 2026.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the IPrA Secretary General, the Executive Secretary will be responsible for the administration of the International Pragmatics Association. This involves membership management (handling membership applications and renewals, providing email support), website and communication management (website maintenance, sending newsletters), supporting IPrA programs and meetings (such as the International Pragmatics Conferences).
Requirements
· Fluency in spoken and written English
· Basic proficiency in Dutch
· University (Bachelor or Master) degree in humanities/social sciences, communication or office management; familiarity with linguistics is a plus
· Advanced computer skills, preferably including experience with website design/maintenance and (basic) video editing (or an interest for short-term development of such experience)
· Willingness to travel occasionally for (preparation of) conferences
Ideal characteristics
· Strong interpersonal and communicative skills; trustworthy, congenial and diplomatic
· Ready to collaborate while able to work independently
· Detail-oriented
