Policy Advisor Conduct of business
In this role, you will identify, monitor, analyse, and advise on a wide range of financial services and consumer protection-related EU initiatives relevant to the European insurance industry. The specific mix of files may vary over time, but all will focus on issues impacting consumers and the way insurance products are distributed and sold in Europe.
You will help shape and convey the industry’s position on these topics, working closely with members and EU stakeholders, drafting persuasive positions, and contributing to advocacy strategies that promote the European insurance sector’s interests.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Policy Monitoring & Research: Track EU policy and regulatory developments in conduct of business and consumer protection, assess their impact on the industry, and provide strategic intelligence to members and colleagues.
- Member Engagement: Gather and synthesise feedback from national associations and company members, build consensus positions, and ensure strong alignment across the membership.
- Policy Development & Communication: Draft high-quality position papers, briefings, and other materials, tailoring messages to different audiences.
- Support to Committees & Groups: Coordinate the Conduct of Business Committee and relevant project groups, ensuring smooth follow-up on agreed actions.
- Advocacy & Representation: Engage with EU institutions, supervisory authorities, and other stakeholders, representing and promoting the industry’s positions at external meetings, conferences, and workshops.
- Cross-functional Coordination: Work closely with colleagues in other departments to ensure consistency and maximise impact.
Profile
Essential:
- Master’s degree in European law, economics, political science, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of the EU decision-making process.
- Very good analytical skills and ability to synthesise complex feedback.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience in building consensus views amongst stakeholders.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking.
- Team player with a proactive attitude and a strong sense of responsibility.
Desirable:
- Experience in financial services or insurance, especially in conduct of business/consumer protection.
- Experience in an international and multicultural environment.
