About the Position

The IIF is seeking to recruit a full-time Policy Advisor – Regulatory Affairs, available to start in January 2026. This position will be based in our Brussels office and will play a key role in supporting IIF's European regulatory engagement, while contributing to the organization's broader global regulatory work. The successful candidate will work closely with IIF colleagues and members to monitor regulatory developments, coordinate member input, and represent industry perspectives in Brussels and across Europe. In this role you will serve as one of the IIF's regulatory affairs representatives in Europe, helping to shape the dialogue between the financial industry and European institutions, including the European Commission, European Parliament, European Central Bank (ECB), as well as other EU institutions, and national regulators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze regulatory initiatives from European and global bodies, including the European Commission, European Parliament, ECB, EBA, ESMA, EIOPA, and national regulators, as well as international entities like the Basel Committee and FSB.
  • Draft background documents, policy memos, and consensus papers for IIF working groups, with a focus on European regulatory and policy developments.
  • Lead or support the drafting and submission of industry responses to consultations and proposals from EU institutions and European supervisory authorities.
  • Track developments in EU prudential regulation, supervisory practices, and cross-border coordination.
  • Coordinate with IIF members in Europe to gather input and build consensus on regulatory topics.
  • Engage with European regulators, supervisors, and standard-setting bodies to represent industry perspectives.
  • Provide ad hoc policy advice to European members and contribute to IIF's communications and outreach in the region.
  • Organize and support policy-related meetings, working groups, and roundtables in Brussels and other European cities.
  • Prepare annotated agendas, meeting summaries, and follow-up materials tailored to European stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective participation and engagement from key European stakeholders.

Your Profile

  • Graduate degree in Economics, Law, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial regulation, public affairs, or policy analysis.
  • Strong understanding of EU policymaking
  • Excellent writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and diplomacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively across teams.
  • Fluent in English, and at least another European language
