Job Description: Network Designer (Fiber & Copper)

🎯 Focus: End-to-end design of telecom networks (fiber & copper)

🌐 Role Overview

As a Network Designer, you will be responsible for the design, management, and optimization of our fiber optic and copper cable networks. Your work ensures that our infrastructure remains reliable, cost-efficient, and customer-focused. From initial studies to final handover, you manage the complete design cycle.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

Design & Planning

• Develop solutions for network extensions, upgrades, and optimizations (fiber-to-the-home, fiber-to-the-business, infrastructure renewal, housing projects, industrial sites, roadworks, customer requests).
• Identify synergies between internal and external triggers to optimize resources and costs.

Project Execution

• Transform global studies into detailed designs and documentation.
• Deliver complete design files (including drawings) to construction teams.
• Support construction colleagues by clarifying design-related questions.

Data & Quality

• Ensure accuracy of technical documentation and update databases after execution.
• Monitor and verify data quality at all project stages.

Additional Contributions

• Coach and support junior colleagues.
• Coordinate projects in specific areas (e.g. roadworks, major infrastructure).
• Act as point-of-contact for specific IT applications (e.g. Genesys, IFH, NIMS, GDA).

🎓 Profile & Skills

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience).

Technical Skills

• Solid knowledge of telecom networks (fiber & copper).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access).
• Knowledge of telecom design tools (eJMS, ABR, ITR, IFH, KBS, IVP).
• Experience with AutoCAD (mandatory).
• Knowledge of QGIS (nice-to-have).
