About the role:

Our client is a specialized police service primarily responsible for combating organized crime in all its forms. It is one of the three general directorates of the federal police and focuses on conducting investigations in the fields of cybercrime, terrorism, organized crime, drug trafficking, and many others. It provides support and expertise to the entire integrated police force and to its national and international partners.

This directorate houses the operational resources allocated to judicial police operations, the fight against serious and organized crime, special units, and technical and forensic police operations.

Job Description:

The software engineer will join an existing team of five people involved in the development of a Python application in Django to support operational needs. Day-to-day work will involve the development of new features and the maintenance of existing ones.

The entire project is developed using Agile methods and is fully on-premise. We require an on-site presence of 2 days per week at the office in Brussels, which is easily accessible by public transport. The candidate must be able to obtain a security accreditation.

Profile:

We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Software Engineer with a passion for modeling, designing, and developing innovative software components and applications. Possesses experience with the development of data applications in Django, and a proven track record in translating customer needs into technical requirements.

• Front-end Development:
  Expertise in building and maintaining applications in React.
• Back-end Development:
  In-depth knowledge of Python for software development, demonstrable experience with Python Django, and optionally, but a plus, in .NET.
• Data Quality and Integrity:
  Strong focus on ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data.
• Problem-Solving Skills:
  Excellent analytical skills to solve complex technical challenges and deliver data-driven solutions.
• Experience with web servers
  Nginx
  or
  Apache
  is a plus.

Education

• Minimum a
  bachelor's degree in software development / IT
  .
• Demonstrable experience in application development in Python.

Languages

Language proficiency:
English
+ mastery of one, or preferably, both national languages (Dutch/French). If not mastered, passive understanding of the other language is required.
