Who you are

Please note that this is a non-paid academic internship for students looking to complete the Program requirements.

The internship will commence in January or February with a minimum of 12 weeks.

Are you passionate about sustainability and eager to make a real impact?

We're looking for a flexible, motivated intern to support our Sustainability team in the areas of customer mobility and circularity. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to our climate ambitions while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment.

You're studying environmental sciences, business, or a related field— and have a strong interest in sustainability.

You're flexible, proactive, and comfortable working on a variety of tasks.

You're organized and detail-oriented, with an interest in green mobility and circularity.

You enjoy working independently, but also thrive in a collaborative team environment.

You're a clear communicator and enjoy crafting messages that resonate.

You're eager to learn and grow during a 12-week internship, with at least 2 days/week in our Zaventem office.

You're willing to visit our 8 stores to gather insights and meet stakeholders.

You speak English fluently (additional languages are a plus).

A day in your life with us

Support daily sustainability tasks across various topics, adapting to evolving priorities.

Map existing mobility initiatives across our stores and help build a strategic roadmap to improve them.

Contribute to circularity projects, including pilot testing and business case development.

Create routines, templates, and communication materials to support smooth operations.

Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. Communications, HR, Legal, Marketing) to share impactful sustainability stories—internally and externally.

Our team within IKEA

Some would call us idealists who want to change the world, but we are firm believers that we actually can have a positive impact on people, society and planet. We put our heads together to solve the big questions: how IKEA products can become circular by using material and resources in the best way, how to improve the lives of the people who create our products, and how IKEA can benefit the communities where we operate.

Apply now

At IKEA, we're on a journey to create a better everyday life for the many people. As part of our sustainability team, you'll help us reduce our environmental footprint and drive meaningful change—while gaining real-world experience in a supportive and inspiring environment.
