Position Summary The Frozen Brothers Service Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing frozen beverage and dessert dispensing equipment, including Carpigiani soft serve and gelato systems, at customer locations. This field-based position combines technical expertise in refrigeration, plumbing, and electrical systems with a strong focus on customer service and reliability. Technicians operate from their home location rather than a depot base, ensuring national coverage across the Netherlands. The role operates primarily Monday to Friday on a five-day schedule for 40 hours per week, with participation in a 2 Saturdays -in-4 weekend rota to provide essential cover which includes an extra 26 rota days of 8 hours per year to be allocated for out-of-hours or weekend service requirements, ensuring consistent customer support across the Frozen Brothers network.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Installation

  • Install frozen beverage and dessert dispensing systems to specification, ensuring all electrical, refrigeration, and plumbing connections meet company and manufacturer standards.
  • Test and commission equipment, providing customer training on correct use and maintenance.

Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal machine performance and longevity
  • Identify wear, calibrate controls, and test refrigeration and electrical systems.

Repair & Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
  • Replace parts, rewire components, and verify machine operation post-repair.
  • Use diagnostic tools, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals for accurate fault analysis.

Customer Service

  • Deliver a professional and courteous service experience, building trust through effective communication.
  • Explain repair work clearly and provide practical advice to prevent recurring issues.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Complete detailed digital service reports, noting all parts used, labour hours, and machine condition.
  • Update CRM systems promptly and maintain accurate service history records. Inventory & Equipment Management
  • Maintain and restock the company service vehicle with essential tools and spare parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle and all issued tools are clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards. Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all company, manufacturer, and legal safety guidelines, including EPA and F-Gas regulations for refrigerants.
  • Maintain certification and stay current with all safety training requirements. Communication & Coordination
  • Liaise with the Service Manager and operations team to plan routes efficiently and minimise downtime.
  • Share feedback on equipment trends and suggest process improvements where appropriate.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a service or maintenance role, ideally within the food or beverage equipment industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and perform physically demanding tasks safely.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Preferred: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent technical qualification in Refrigeration, HVAC, or Electrical Engineering. F-Gas or EPA Refrigeration Certification (Category I or equivalent). Experience with Carpigiani, Taylor, or other commercial frozen dessert/beverage systems.
  • Technical expertise: Skilled in refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical systems. Problem-solving: Capable of diagnosing complex faults quickly and effectively. Customer service: Communicates clearly and builds strong client relationships. Organization: Efficiently manages multiple service calls and documentation.
  • Flexibility: Works within the 2-in-4 rota and occasional out-of-hours assignments as required. Working Pattern Core Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am to 4.30pm with a 30-minute unpaid break each day Rota Coverage: Participation in a 2-in-4 weekend rota of 26 days per year to ensure continuous customer support.
  • Home-Based Operation: Technicians start and end each day from their home location, not from a depot. Holidays: 36 days per year including bank holidays. Annual leave will be required to be booked for Bank Holidays if required. During peak periods, July to September leave will be restricted to one week.
  • Travel: Frequent travel to customer sites across Benelux and surrounding European countries (occasional overnight stays may be required). Purpose of Geographic Distribution Frozen Brothers operates a home-based technician network to provide rapid national response coverage without relying on regional depots or centralised parts supply chains. Each technician is strategically positioned to: Ensure balanced national coverage and minimise customer downtime. Reduce travel overlap and improve operational efficiency. Maintain equitable workload distribution across all EU regions. This structure ensures that every customer — regardless of location — receives the same high standard of service and timely support.
