Cosmetics Europe, the Brussels based European trade association of the cosmetic and personal care industry, has an immediate opening for a: Regulatory Affairs Manager – Sustainable Packaging & Environment
Key Responsibilities:
The Regulatory Affairs Manager will be responsible for the management of the technical assessment, technical follow-up and compliance on regulatory and policy files in relation to environmental legislations impacting the cosmetics industry. The position initially specifically focuses on the implementation of the PPWR (Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation) and the UWWTD (Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive).
More particularly, on sustainable packaging, the regulatory manager will:
• Lead the implementation of specific aspects of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) within the cosmetics packaging domain (packaging minimisation, recyclability and recycled content, substances of concerns, others).
• Coordinate technical work of Cosmetics Europe in collaboration with technical experts on a range of packaging-related topics.
• Lead and manage cross-functional working group, ensuring timely delivery of objectives to inform Cosmetics Europe advocacy positions.
• Represent the organisation in external technical working groups and standardisation/regulatory forums.
• Provide technical input related to sustainable product development strategies related both to product packaging and formulation.
On the Urban Wastewater Directive, the regulatory manager will:
• Coordinate CE Activities and workstreams on the implementation of the UWWTD
• Act as liaison with stakeholders in Commission working groups, industry working groups and with external consultants
• Manage the UWWTD Steering Team at Cosmetics Europe
Required Qualifications & Experience:
• Advanced degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in cosmetics packaging, with a strong focus on sustainability and regulatory compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of EU packaging legislation and international standards’ frameworks related to packaging.
• Experience in implementation and assessment of sustainable packaging features, including minimisation, lightweighting, recyclability, integration of recycled content.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong Project management skills
• Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of other EU languages is a plus.
