Initial 1 year freelance contract + extension possible


Leuven, Belgium (Hybrid) – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote


Our client provides the flexibility to work both from their office premises and remotely from home. This to maintain a healthy work-life balance while being an integral part of the team.


Our client is developing novel materials, process technologies, exploratory devices and solutions to enable new applications, ranging various technologies. In this growing R&D activity, they are currently looking for a Project Officer to support the Project and Resource Management Office of the Expertise Center.


The assignment

The focus will be to support project leaders with their running projects, operationally follow-up on new and running multi-disciplinary projects as well on supporting resource managers.

In this role, your responsibilities are:

  • You will support project leaders and resource managers in managing their multi-disciplinary projects across multiple teams including design, characterization, processing and application experts.
  • You will be responsible to monitor and drive all intake procedures for new projects
  • You will be responsible to monitor the status of running (key) projects and follow-up on pending actions
  • You will be a driving force in the LEAN Project Management Office and will work in close collaboration with the Project leaders, Resource managers and other Project Management Offices.
  • You will support Resources managers in their operational resource management tasks as core member of the Resource Management Office.
  • You will track and follow-up on quality and security aspects of running projects
  • You will be involved in internal as well as external quality auditing. You will identify, track, manage and communicate risks and issues with stakeholders and management.


Required knowledge and skills

  • You have a degree in Materials/Electronics Engineering, chemistry, physics, Nano-science/nano-technology or another related field
  • You are independent and proactive.
  • You take initiative while being part of a diverse team
  • You can detect problems and jointly work towards a solution
  • You have excellent communication skills.
  • You are result-driven and flexible to meet stringent deadlines with quality output.
  • You have experience in managing projects.
  • You have experience in project writing. You are organized and can structure a complex project.
