At Calqi, We are now seeking a talented Data Engineer to lead the creation and implementation of our Data Architecture, focusing on pipelines, data lakes, and AI models. Your work will enable automated pricing and document insights, streamlining critical workflows for architects and contractors..

Our software digitizes the specifications, bill of quantities, and bidding process — enabling faster and more transparent collaboration between construction partners. Through our intuitive platform, we improve communication between all stakeholders: architects, contractors, engineers, and clients. By connecting every step of the construction workflow, Calqi helps reduce errors, friction, and delays — and builds a smarter construction sector.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Calqi’s data architecture, including data pipelines and data lake sunder the lead of our CTO
  • Design and build advanced AI models for automated pricing, data extraction, and insights from various construction-related documents (previous projects, invoices, spreadsheets)
  • Work closely with product managers, architects, contractors, and software developers to understand requirements and ensure effective data solutions
  • Ensure data quality, reliability, and security throughout our systems
  • Analyze complex datasets and extract actionable insights for product enhancements
  • Communicate findings clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders


Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, and building robust data pipelines
  • Experience with cloud-based data services and platforms (AWS preferred, including S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, or similar)
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
  • Solid expertise in SQL and data warehousing solutions
  • Familiarity with Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques
  • Familiarity with RESTful and GraphQL APIs, event-driven architecture, and microservices
  • Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code (IaC)
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities
  • Fluent in Dutch and English
  • Reside in Flanders 


Nice to have

  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified AI Practitioner, AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer - Associate, AWS Certified Data Engineer - Associate)
  • Experience with AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools in AWS (CloudWatch, X-Ray)
