CLECAT is hiring a Policy Trainee
CLECAT, the European association representing freight forwarders, logistics and customs service providers, is looking for a Policy Trainee to join its Brussels-based team for a minimum period of six months.
The trainee will support CLECAT's policy and advocacy activities by monitoring key EU initiatives in the fields of freight transport and logistics, following policy debates within the European institutions, and contributing to CLECAT's analytical and outreach work.
The role offers hands-on exposure to EU policymaking in a small, dynamic association environment, with direct involvement in ongoing legislative and policy discussions.
Key tasks and responsibilities
The Policy Trainee will support the CLECAT team by:
- Monitoring and analysing EU policy and legislative developments relevant to freight transport and logistics
- Following debates and meetings in the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Council
- Drafting concise reports of meetings (internal and external) and background briefings
- Carrying out research on topics related to road freight transport and sustainability
- Assisting with the preparation and organisation of meetings, events and stakeholder exchanges
- Supporting day-to-day policy and administrative work of the association
Profile
We are looking for a motivated candidate who:
- Has a passion for European policy making in the area of transport, preferably with some prior exposure to the EU institutional environment (e.g. a Bluebook traineeship)
- Holds a master's degree in political science, International Relations, European Studies, Economics, Law or a related field
- Demonstrates strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and summarise policy documents clearly and accurately
- Is fully proficient in English, with a good working knowledge of at least one additional European language considered an asset
- Is proactive, reliable and able to work with a high degree of autonomy, while being comfortable in a small team setting
