Equipment Engineer


The equipment engineer is a key role player in the technical follow-up of the production line and the related utilities. The Equipment Engineer has two major focus points:

  1. Technical Support (2nd line troubleshooting of the production line, back-up of Maintenance technician, technical advisor for CAPEX projects and calibration aspects);
  2. Follow-up and technical improvement of the manufacturing line (based on OEE performance and CMMS data);

He or she operates in a safety and GMP compliant environment.


Accountabilities

The state-of-the-art Biocartis manufacturing line encompasses the following processes and associated equipment:

  • Plastic assembly technology: laser welding, heat sealing, ultrasonic welding
  • Liquid dispensing technology: Nanodrop and peristaltic pump
  • Labeling, marking & packaging
  • Process control: leak testing, vision systems, height checks, and related inspections


The Equipment Engineer I is responsible for:

1. Technical Support of Manufacturing Processes and Equipment

Provide advanced technical support to manufacturing equipment and processes.

  • Perform 2nd line troubleshooting and assist maintenance technicians with complex technical problems or equipment breakdowns.
  • Support production lines during shifts when maintenance technicians are unavailable (typically a few weeks per year).
  • Review maintenance work order to ensure technical solutions are implemented safely, compliantly, and according to procedures.
  • Build and maintain technical expertise in equipment technology and manufacturing processes.

2. Technical Follow-up and technical improvement

  • Oversee mechanical, electrical, hardware, and software aspects of manufacturing equipment, in collaboration with the automation team, including design, robustness, calibration, and improvements.
  • Maintain and update work instructions for preventive maintenance of equipment.
  • Support implementation technical improvements based on breakdown analyses, CMMS data, and OEE metrics (yield, cycle time, and downtime).


Profile Requirements

  • Industrial Engineer degree or a Bachelor degree in a technical orientation (electro-mechanical preferred) and/or equivalent through experience;
  • A first experience in a technical production environment is a plus;
  • Highly technically skilled
  • Team player with well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Analytical mindset and problem solver
  • Very good communication and organization skills.
  • Experience with Good Maintenance Practices (GMP) in a production environment is a must
  • Standard schedule in day – flexibility required to come in shifts if needed
  • PC-skills:
  • Advance knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • CMMS (Maintenance and/or Calibration) is a plus
  • PLCs application software (Twincat, S7, logo!, Apigraf) is a plus
  • Legislation and regulation:
  • Experience in a manufacturing organization producing medical devices, pharmaceuticals or in-vitro diagnostics working within an ISO13485 / GMP compliant environment is an asset
  • Languages:
  • Advanced knowledge, orally and in writing of Dutch and English is a must
