Belgium Payroll Consultant (Contract)

Contract Type: Freelance

Duration: 6 months on Demand (20 hours week)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP Belgium Payroll Consultant with strong expertise in Belgian payroll legislation and functional knowledge of SAP HCM and SAP Payroll (Belgium).

This role focuses on payroll compliance, legislative advisory, validation, and stakeholder coordination rather than hands-on technical configuration. The consultant will act as the Belgian payroll subject matter expert, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and best practice alignment.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Belgian payroll legislation.
• Ensure payroll compliance with Belgian regulations, including:
• ONSS/RSZ (social security)
• Withholding tax (précompte professionnel / bedrijfsvoorheffing)
• Holiday pay regulations
• End-of-year bonuses (13th month)
• Meal vouchers, eco vouchers, and other benefits
• Review and validate payroll results for accuracy and compliance.
• Provide functional guidance to technical/configuration teams.
• Translate legislative changes into functional requirements.
• Support payroll testing, UAT coordination, and validation.
• Advise HR and Finance stakeholders on payroll impacts of policy changes.
• Support year-end processes and statutory reporting (e.g., DMFA, Dimona).
• Assist during audits and compliance reviews.
• Maintain payroll process documentation.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in Belgian payroll (SAP environment preferred).
• Strong expertise in Belgian payroll legislation and statutory reporting.
• Experience reviewing and validating SAP payroll outputs.
• Solid understanding of payroll processes end-to-end.
• Experience supporting legislative updates.
• Ability to translate legal requirements into functional guidance.
• Fluent in English and Dutch or French.

Nice to Have

• Experience working with SAP SuccessFactors.
• Experience in international payroll environments.
• Exposure to SAP S/4HANA environments.
• Background in payroll advisory or payroll operations leadership.
