Full Stack Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Full-Stack Java / TypeScript Developer to help design and deliver next-generation digital platforms within a leading insurance environment in Brussels. You’ll play a key role in modernising core systems and building scalable, customer-centric solutions in a modular, cloud-ready architecture.

• Position: Freelance Full-Stack Java / TypeScript Developer
• Duration: 12-Month Contract
• Location: Brussels (Hybrid - 2 days/week on-site)
• Languages: English required (French or Dutch is a strong asset)
• Start Date: ASAP / Flexible
• Day Rate: €(Negotiable & Competitive)

Core Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications using Java (Spring Boot) and TypeScript (Angular or React)
• Contribute to the evolution of digital insurance platforms and policy management systems
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and architects to translate functional requirements into technical solutions
• Build scalable microservices and responsive front-end interfaces in a service-oriented architecture
• Ensure high code quality through clean coding practices, code reviews, and automated testing
• Implement and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven integrations
• Support CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments in cloud environments
• Participate actively in agile ceremonies, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives

Essential Skills:

• 6+ years of experience in software development, including strong full-stack exposure
• Excellent knowledge of Java and Spring Boot
• Strong experience with TypeScript and modern front-end frameworks (Angular or React)
• Experience building RESTful APIs and working with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar)
• Familiarity with Kafka or other event-driven messaging systems
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Solid understanding of CI/CD practices and tools (Git, GitLab/GitHub, Jenkins, SonarQube, etc.)
• Strong understanding of software architecture principles and design patterns
• Ability to work autonomously within agile squads

Desirable Skills:

• Experience in the insurance sector (policy administration, claims, underwriting, risk, or customer portals)
• Background in telecommunications or public sector projects
• Familiarity with domain-driven design (DDD) and modular architecture
• Experience modernizing legacy systems or contributing to digital transformation programmes.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps and secure coding practices
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
