JUNIOR PROJECT MANAGER IN ENVIRONMENT

From our Brussels headquarters, a core team of 25 leads projects that mobilize up to 250 experts and consultants each year.

Position Summary

As Junior Project Manager, you will primarily support business development activities (pipeline building and proposal preparation) and contribute to project coordination and delivery quality across AGRER’s environment & climate portfolio (NRM, forestry, land use, biodiversity, sustainable agriculture, ecosystem services).

Key Responsibilities

The person will have three lines of responsibilities, which may evolve depending on his/her level of experience:

Business development :

  • Support market scanning and opportunity qualification (donors/IFIs/bilateral agencies).
  • Coordinate inputs for EOIs and proposals (technical and financial): planning, internal alignment, collection of expert contributions.
  • Draft and consolidate proposal sections (approach, methodology, workplan) and ensure consistency and compliance with ToR.
  • Support budget preparation, and overall quality control of submissions.

Project coordination & delivery support :

  • Support project start-up, workplan follow-up, results tracking and reporting coordination.
  • Contribute to QA/QC of deliverables (structure, consistency, contractual compliance).
  • Support project administration: logistics, missions, cost tracking, basic budget monitoring.

Technical support & expertise :

  • Contribute, to background research, data collection and drafting of selected technical sections of reports (e.g., baseline elements, climate risk/adaptation/mitigation considerations, safeguards inputs), under senior guidance.
  • Provide support for missions and consultations with stakeholders (preparation, documentation, coordination) when necessary.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Required :

  • Master’s degree in environmental economics, environmental science, climate finance, natural resource management, or a related field.
  • First experience in international development projects, studies or proposal work.
  • Strong writing and synthesis skills; comfortable working with templates and ToR requirements.
  • Autonomy and ability to learn quickly
  • Fluency in English and French.

Nice to have :

  • Familiarity with climate finance instruments and development partners’ processes.
  • Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses, including basic financial modelling.
  • Understanding of climate finance mechanisms (GCF, GEF, carbon markets, blended finance)
