Senior EU Health/Pharma policy Reporter (Brussels)


APM Market Access is looking for a full-time correspondent to cover European health and pharmaceutical policy in Brussels. The role will involve close tracking of significant developments across EU institutions and key stakeholder groups, delivering sharp, timely and insightful coverage on regulatory changes, industry trends, and policy shifts impacting the healthcare sector.

 

The ideal candidate will have sharp analytical skills, a keen eye for emerging issues and the ability to produce well-researched, high-quality reporting on Europe’s evolving healthcare landscape.


Location: Brussels

 

Key responsibilities:

·        Produce high-quality news articles tailored to a specialised readership

·        Monitor activities of key EU institutions (European Commission, European Parliament, European Medicines Agency)

·        Report from events, conferences and key policy forums

·        Conduct interviews with high-level officials, including EU Commissioners, MEPs and policy experts

·        Enhance stories with third-party commentary and additional context

·        Contribute to feature articles in "APM Insight"

·        Develop and maintain a network of reliable contacts within the sector

 

Desired skills and qualifications:

·        Degree-level educated in a relevant field with a background in journalism

·        Minimum four years of professional experience covering pharmaceutical or healthcare topics (more experienced candidates are welcome)

·        Strong understanding of EU policy and institutions

·        Proven expertise in news reporting, interviewing and event coverage involving EU institutions

·        Excellent written skills in English

·        Proficiency in an additional EU language preferred but not required

·        Familiarity with data visualisation tools is a bonus

·        Excellent IT skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a small, dynamic team

 

Employment Terms

This is a full-time employment contract under Belgian law, with salary and responsibilities commensurate with the candidate’s level of experience.

 

Our Team & Work Environment

APM Market Access operates with a dedicated team of permanent staff based in the UK, Paris and Berlin (where the chief editor is located). We also collaborate with freelance correspondents across major European markets, including Italy and Spain.

 

The team primarily works remotely but recognises the importance of regular in-person meetings. These gatherings take place in London and serve as valuable opportunities for face-to-face collaboration, enhancing team cohesion.
