Freelance Senior Network Engineer - Long‑Term On‑Site Assignment (Antwerp)
A leading financial organization is looking for a Freelance Senior Network Engineer to strengthen and evolve its enterprise network and security environment. You will work on architecture, lifecycle management, deep‑dive engineering, and complex troubleshooting in a stable, high‑quality setting.
Responsibilities
- Design, maintain, and improve enterprise network and security architecture
- Create HLD/LLD designs and support modernization initiatives
- Configure and operate routing, switching, firewalls, and load balancers
- Troubleshoot multilayer issues using packet flows and performance analysis
- Lead lifecycle management, migrations, and infrastructure upgrades
- Act as senior escalation point for incidents and problem management
- Contribute to security controls (NGFW, IDPS, NAC, WAF, Zero Trust) and compliance
- Maintain documentation and drive automation initiatives
Qualifications
- Minimum 6–7 years of experience as a Network Engineer in an enterprise environment
- MUST‑HAVE: Palo Alto Firewalls
- MUST‑HAVE: Juniper Switching (EX/QFX)
- MUST‑HAVE: Juniper SRX
- MUST‑HAVE: F5 LTM & F5 ASM
- Strong knowledge of routing, switching, load balancing, VPNs, and security protocols
- Experience with packet analysis, performance tuning, and traffic engineering
- Knowledge of EVPN/VXLAN, BGP, Azure Networking, Infoblox, or Cloudflare is a plus
- Strong analytical and communication skills; able to coach and guide others
- Fluency in English required; Dutch is a strong plus
