Freelance functional analyst Location: Brussels Employment Type: Freelance Work Regime: fulltime (3 days on site) Duration: long term project About the Role We are looking for an experienced Functional Analyst to support digital banking platforms within the channels and online banking domain. This role focuses on comparing two online and mobile banking environments and helping translate local needs into requirements for a centrally hosted solution. You will analyze existing processes, functionalities, and system architectures, then convert these insights into clear specifications and user stories for development teams. Collaboration is key: you will work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, and Scrum teams to ensure high-quality functional alignment. Key Responsibilities • Analyze business requirement documentation and identify functional gaps. • Collaborate with Architects and development teams to refine solutions. • Design service specifications and contribute to data modeling together with the Data Architect. • Create functional requirements, user stories (in Jira), and documentation (in Confluence). • Help ensure functional and non-functional requirements are properly captured and implemented. Required Knowledge & Experience • Online retail banking (web / mobile) • Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) Technical Experience – Must Have • Experience with application migration • Knowledge of front-end applications (web/mobile) • UML / BPMN design skills • Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence, Enterprise Architect, and Application Lifecycle Management tools • Relational databases & SQL • Basic web technologies (HTML5/CSS3), mock-up creation • Understanding of Java environments • SOA, REST and API concepts Technical Experience – Nice to Have • Broad knowledge of interactive and batch applications, web services, middleware • Logging and monitoring principles • Cloud computing concepts • User access management • Non-functional requirements expertise Qualifications & Soft Skills • Degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Functional Analyst • Strong analytical and technical capabilities • Excellent communication skills • High accuracy and attention to detail • Experience working with diverse vendors (local and/or offshore) • Team player with a proactive mentality • Familiarity with UML or similar modeling frameworks • SQL knowledge
