TMS Group is recruiting a System Engineer for one of our clients based in the Mons region.

The client operates within a structured IT environment where infrastructure reliability, security, and operational excellence are key priorities.

You'll join a technical team responsible for maintaining and improving core infrastructure systems.

This role is ideal for a junior profile (0–3 years of experience) looking to build strong foundations in system administration and infrastructure engineering within a professional environment.

What you'll do

As a System Engineer, you'll contribute to the stability, performance, and evolution of the IT infrastructure:

• Support and maintain Windows and/or Linux server environments.
• Monitor system performance and ensure availability of infrastructure services.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and Active Directory configurations.
• Assist in managing virtualization environments (VMware / Hyper-V or equivalent).
• Contribute to patch management, backups, and security updates.
• Troubleshoot incidents and support Level 2/3 technical issues.
• Collaborate with network, security, and application teams when needed.
• Document configurations, procedures, and infrastructure changes.
• Participate in continuous improvement of infrastructure processes and automation.

What we're looking for

We're searching for someone who checks most of these boxes

Technical skills (Junior profile – 0 to 3 years experience)

• Degree in IT, Systems, Infrastructure, or equivalent practical experience.
• Basic to solid knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux environments.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Familiarity with Active Directory and user management.
• Exposure to virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, containers are a plus).
• Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bash) is an asset.
• Awareness of backup, monitoring, and cybersecurity principles.

Nice to have:

• Experience with cloud environments (Azure / AWS).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools or infrastructure automation concepts.

Soft skills

• Analytical mindset and structured problem-solving approach.
• Eagerness to learn and grow technically.
• Autonomous but comfortable asking for support when needed.
• Team player with clear communication skills.
• Proactive and solution-oriented attitude.

Languages

• French: professional level (spoken and written).
• English: professional level (documentation, collaboration).
• Understanding of DevOps concepts and CI/CD pipelines.
