Application/Cloud Architect

We are currently seeking an Application/Cloud Architect (ACA) able to design and implement scalable cloud-native architectures, architect robust Python-based server-side solutions, develop and integrate secure RESTful APIs, and optimise data-intensive applications within Reporting and Text Mining ecosystems in a large-scale environment, for a prestigious European Institution in Brussels. 🔍🇪🇺

🖥️ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Architect server-side components forming the backbone of web applications, applying best practices in Python development
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs enabling seamless front-end/back-end communication
• Design, implement and optimise database schemas and queries (relational and non-relational)
• Manage database security and ensure compliance with data protection standards
• Enhance application performance by identifying bottlenecks and optimising code and queries
• Implement scalable cloud-based architectures leveraging containerisation technologies
• Conduct code reviews and vulnerability scanning to ensure secure coding standards
• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployments
• Contribute to cloud deployments using infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools
• Produce clear technical documentation and collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders

📝 REQUIREMENTS:

• EU nationality required
• Excellent proficiency in Python and web frameworks (Django, Flask, FastAPI)
• Strong knowledge of RESTful API design
• Solid experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, MongoDB
• Expertise in Docker/Podman and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of DevSecOps tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) and version control (Git/SVN)
• Familiarity with Ansible, Linux environments, and agile methodologies
• Understanding of secure coding practices, authentication, authorisation and encryption
• English level C1
• Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills
• Ability to work in multicultural and international settings.

📍 This is a near-site role, requiring the consultant to be based within 2 hours of Brussels and available to attend on-site meetings when requested.
