As a Lead Water Infrastructure Engineer, you will take the technical lead on one or multiple major marine infrastructure projects. You will act as the principal engineer, guiding the engineering process from concept through completion while coordinating a multidisciplinary team. This role requires a strong technical background, leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex designs in an integrated, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership & Coordination
- Lead the design activities for all or part of a large-scale marine infrastructure project.
- Serve as the project’s principal engineer, providing guidance, coaching, and coordination to junior engineers and CAD designers.
- Ensure seamless collaboration between different internal design teams and promote an integrated, cross-disciplinary design approach.
Technical Responsibilities
- Develop and dimension marine infrastructure works in accordance with Belgian and European regulations, standards, codes of practice, and internal guidelines.
- Prepare preliminary, basic, tender, and detailed designs for various marine and port structures such as:
- Port and waterways development studies
- Port master planning
- Locks
- Quay walls
- Jetties
- Bridge foundations
- Flood zones and dikes
- Breakwaters
- Stay informed about new construction techniques and innovations, integrating them into the design process to optimize technical solutions.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage proactively with clients and external partners, presenting and discussing technical aspects of the design in a clear and constructive manner.
- Support tender managers in preparing attractive, innovative, and competitive proposals.
Project Management
- Oversee progress, quality, deliverables, and overall performance of the project team.
- Report regularly to the team manager on project status and critical issues.
Technical Development
- Continue developing your expertise in relevant engineering software (e.g., SCIA Engineer, DSheet Piling, Ansys, Plaxis).
- Keep up to date with standards, new methodologies, tools, and best practices in marine infrastructure engineering.
