About the Role

We are seeking a highly capable contract-based analyst with strong expertise in polar affairs and European politics. The role focuses on delivering clear, structured, and insight-driven analysis to help senior stakeholders understand evolving European polar policy dynamics and their strategic implications.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor Arctic strategy documents, legislative initiatives, diplomatic statements, and policy papers issued by the European Commission and key Arctic governments, parliaments, and think tanks (including Iceland, Sweden, and Finland)
• Assess strategic implications of European Arctic policy developments across shipping routes, resource governance, scientific cooperation, and geopolitical competition involving actors such as China, Russia, and indigenous communities
• Produce concise analytical reports and policy briefings tailored to decision-making audiences
• Participate in occasional expert consultations and Q&A sessions with clients

Candidate Profile

• Academic or professional background in Marine Environmental Science, Cold Climate Engineering, Political Science, Arctic governance, Nordic security, or related fields
• Master’s or PhD preferred but not required
• Experience in government, academia, think tanks, or polar research institutions is valued
• Strong analytical reasoning and excellent writing skills in English
• Ability to work independently, synthesize complex policy material, and meet deadlines
• Comfortable working remotely with flexible hours across time zones
