Senior Data Engineer - €975 Per Day - 3 Year Project

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a long-term, strategic data transformation programme based in Brussels. The role sits within a modern data platform initiative leveraging cutting-edge data technologies , including Databricks , to deliver scalable, high-performance data solutions across the organization.

This is a senior-level position suited to someone who can operate autonomously, contribute to architectural decisions, and work closely with business and technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data platforms
• Develop and optimize data processing workflows using Databricks (Spark)
• Work with large, complex datasets in both batch and near real-time environments
• Collaborate with data architects, data scientists, and analytics teams to enable advanced use cases
• Ensure data quality, reliability, performance, and security across the platform
• Contribute to best practices around data engineering, DevOps, and CI/CD
• Support and mentor junior engineers where required
• Engage with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions

Technical Skills & Experience (Required)

• Extensive experience as a Senior Data Engineer on large-scale data platforms
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks and Apache Spark
• Proficiency in Python (and/or Scala) for data engineering
• Solid experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Strong knowledge of data modelling, ETL/ELT, and data warehousing concepts
• Experience working with modern data architectures (Lakehouse, Data Lake, etc.)
• Familiarity with CI/CD, version control, and Infrastructure as Code

Nice to Have

• Experience in regulated environments (e.g. banking, financial services, insurance)
• Exposure to streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka, Spark Structured Streaming)
• Experience with data governance, lineage, and cataloguing tools
